Wake Up Delhi, It’s Coffee Time!
August 18th, 2011

“A girl in a bikini is like having a loaded pistol on your coffee table – There’s nothing wrong with them, but it’s hard to stop thinking about it.” Garrison Keillor

Okay! We agree that the quote above doesn’t say much about coffee per se. So let’s focus on coffee and forget about the girl in bikini for a while (though thing eh? ;p).

We wake up with coffee and coffee is what keeps us working the livelong day. Summer or winter, work or leisure, we WILL drink coffee come what may. That’s how important a cup of coffee is in our lives and that’s the reason why we see coffee shops at every corner of the street in every city of the world. Delhi, one of India’s fastest growing cities, also appears to have coffee-craving demographics. The proof of it is hundreds of coffee shops now dotted across the bustling metropolis and many new mushrooming throughout the city.

Out of Delhi’s most favorite coffee shops, YaDig has picked the top-5 for you. Browse through our Top-5 list below and don’t hesitate to add to the buzz by leaving your own reviews for the venues.

1. Indian Coffee House

Started by the Coffee Board in early 1940s during British rule, the Indian Coffee House is a restaurant chain in India, run by a series of worker co-operative societies. It has strong presence across India. There are nearly 400 coffee houses all over India, which are a part of the chain.

2. Café Coffee Day

CCD is a chain of coffee shops in India. Coffee Day’s most unique aspect is that it grows the coffee it serves. Red stands for leadership and vitality, it also stands for passion. Green stands for 125 years of coffee growing heritage of this vertically integrated group. White stands for purity of purpose.

3. United Coffee House

United Coffee House has chains of cafés/restaurants across Delhi. Every United outlet features a beautifully lit ceiling and carpeted walls, making it a perfect place to dine out for couples and families alike. Despite its above average food, United seems to pull in a decent stream of people. But when it comes to coffee, United surely stands among the best in town.

4. Costa Coffee

When you walk into a Costa store you’ll notice it’s different than other coffee shops. First of all, there’s the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Then the great range of authentic coffee drinks. At every Costa outlet, you’ll find service staff that’s professionally trained in the art of coffee by Costa experts.

5. Barista

Braista is increasingly becoming Delhi’s favorite coffee spot. The venue does its best to make every guest feel comfortable and welcome. Barista serves nothing but the finest Arabica coffees and cuisine at great value prices. With friendly and efficient brew masters who believe in service with a smile, Barista provides a cheerful, interactive ambience that makes guests wish their coffee breaks lasted just a little bit longer.
